The second day of Afro Nation festival lived up to every expectation on Saturday, July 4, as thousands of music lovers gathered once again on the stunning Praia da Rocha beach in Portimão, Portugal, for another unforgettable celebration of African music and culture.
With sunshine, sea breeze and an electric atmosphere setting the perfect backdrop, the festival’s impressive lineup ensured fans were treated to an endless stream of world-class performances across multiple stages. From Afrobeats and hip-hop to Amapiano, Day Two proved why Afro Nation remains one of the world’s biggest festivals celebrating African sounds.
The action on the Lit Stage kicked off with an energetic performance from Sika, joined by hype men Willz Wida Vibez, Wizzy and Shopsydoo to get the crowd moving early. Uganda’s fast-rising star Joshua Baraka followed with a captivating set that became even more special when he welcomed Kenya’s Bien—who had thrilled fans on the opening day—and Nigeria’s Skales to perform their collaborations.
Nigeria’s hitmaker Young Jonn kept the momentum going with a string of fan-favourite records before Congolese music legend Awilo Longomba reminded everyone why he remains one of Africa’s greatest entertainers, delivering his signature dance moves and timeless classics.
Veteran singer Wande Coal then took fans on a nostalgic journey with his evergreen Afrobeats hits before rap heavyweight Olamide, affectionately known as Badoo, stormed the stage with his commanding presence and anthems that had the audience rapping every word.
American R ‘n B singer Mariah the Scientist slowed the pace with her smooth vocals before the night’s most anticipated performer, Asake, took over the stage.
Living up to his reputation as Mr Money With The Vibe, the Nigerian superstar delivered a spectacular closing performance backed by a full live band, combining powerful vocals, infectious energy and flawless stage production.
His set transformed Praia da Rocha into one giant singalong as thousands of fans danced and chanted through his biggest global hits.

Meanwhile, the Piano Stage remained a hotspot for Amapiano lovers, with stars including Amaroto, Mellow & Sleazy, Njelic and Focalistic keeping the party alive with pulsating South African rhythms that echoed across the beachfront long into the night.
Beyond the music, Afro Nation continued to showcase the richness of African culture throughout the festival grounds. Festival-goers embraced the experience by visiting beauty stations where women got glammed up while men enjoyed professional grooming services, adding to the vibrant lifestyle experience that has become synonymous with the event.
With Day Two now in the books, anticipation has shifted to Sunday’s grand finale, where American R ‘n B star Kehlani and Nigerian megastar Wizkid are expected to headline what promises to be a spectacular closing night, bringing another memorable edition of Afro Nation Festival to a fitting conclusion.
